With the terrible news that yet another child has been strangled by the cords of a blind, we would just like to emphasise that we, along with many other blind manufacturers, are working with our suppliers to offer child safe components. We have the cordless perfect fit venetian blind, roller blind and pleated blinds. These operate on a tension system to eradicate the need of hanging pull cords. All of our roller blinds are made with a child safety break link, venetian blinds with a split toggle together with wand operated vertical blinds. We feel the best option avaialable is Perfect Fit Blinds where the blind is fitted to the window itself without any drilling or screwing any brackets in.

We have had many customers phone and ask us the dimensions of the perfect fit roller blind cassette (frame), as it is not suitable for some patio or kitchen doors if you have a wall tight to the door opening i.e. the protruding top part of the louvolite perfect fit roller frame hits the wall before the door is fully opened. All you need to do to be certain that your blind will not hinder your door opening is measure the gap between your 'opened' door ant the wall. If it is 45mm or more then the perfect fit Roller blind will fit fine, if it is less then the top part of the perfect fit roller frame will restrict the door. Please keep in mind that the maximum restricting is only 45mm so for 99.95 of applications you will be fine. Perfect Fit blinds

The History of the Venetian Blind The early history of the venetian blind is conjectural. The early Venetians, who were great traders, are thought to have brought the idea of the blind from Persia to Venice. The Venetian slaves, once freed, are then thought to have brought the blind to France for personal comfort and as a means of livelihood.
The French name for Venetian blinds is "Les Persienes." In 1761 St. Peter’s Church in Philadelphia was fitted with venetian blinds.

The first pioneer of the venetian blind in the US was John Webster of London who advertised his wares in 1767. Venetian blinds then appeared in the 1787 painting by J. L. Gerome Ferris, entitled "The Visit of Paul Jones to the Constitutional Convention." Other illustrations show venetian blinds at Independence Hall in Philadelphia at the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The first large modern building in the US to adopt venetian blinds was Rockefeller Center’s RCA Building (better known as the Radio City building) in New York City at the turn of the 20th century.

The venetian blind is thought to have grown in popularity for its technical improvements over cloth shading systems. The following three advantages were often sited: 1) greater durability, 2) easier operation, and 3) more economical.

In the 1940s advocates of the venetian blind claimed that its technical supremacy came without losing charm, the rich possibilities of decorative and romantic treatments, and impressions of stately splendor. However, the venetian blind proved to be more popular in commercial and institutional markets, where technical supremacy overshadows charm.

We have noticed that many sites have offered the golden oak perfect fit frame colour and then retracted the colour due to the cost. Golden oak frames from the Louvolite perfect fit range are not sprayed or powder coated, they are layered using a special process which means you get the actual wood effect rather than just a colour. There are a large number of conservatories that are constructed in golden oak effect uPVC and the perfect fit frame is designed to match these perfectly. But, because of the wood effect we are finding more and more customers requesting this frame that we have decided to include this in our options within our online store.
